Event Planner Course:

A Guide to the Essential Elements of Event Planning

Do you dream of an exciting career that you love?

Do you want to be a part of the exciting world of events, but don't know where to start?

Are you overwhelmed at the options of online event planning courses available, and don't know which one is the best?

Let me help you narrow down your choices!

You want to steer clear of any course that:

  • combines wedding planning in with event planning.  To people in the industry, they are completely different; in the way you wouldn't offer the same training for a surgeon as you would for a pediatric doctor.  One is not necessarily better than the other, just different.
  • focuses on "party planning."  Party planning encompasses holiday parties, kids' birthday parties, and anniversary parties.  While it is possible to make a living as a party planner, in today's economy it is very, very difficult to sell what most people feel they can do themselves.  I focus on corporate meeting and event planning because it is more consistent, reliable, and you can make a living at it.  As I always say, Microsoft has a much bigger budget for a corporate meeting of 2000 people than Mrs. Jones down the street has for her five year-old's birthday party.
  • promises that you can start your own event planning business by the end of their course.  Please understand that it is in your own best interest not to start a business in something you've never done (I talk more about why this is a bad idea in the course).  It won't take long for you to gain the experience you need to start your own business; but you can't do it just by taking an online course.

So how is this Event Planner Course different than the others?

  • This course focuses on the two areas of event planning in which you can actually make a living:  large-scale events and corporate meetings, events and incentives.
  • It is not filled with a bunch of filler (I've seen courses that teach you how to fill out invitations....seriously?  You're too intelligent to pay someone to "teach" you that!)
  • It teaches you the bare-bones foundation of what you need to know to start a career in event planning.  I'm not going to promise you that you can run out and plan an event for 10,000 people by yourself at the end of this course; because that would be a lie.  What it will teach you is the basics of the industry, the lingo, and the foundation of nearly any event you will ever plan; so that you can have a solid foundational understanding of how events are planned.  This will help you greatly when applying for jobs; the knowledge you will gain from this course will put you a hundred steps ahead of any other "beginner" out there.
  • It is also considerably more affordable than just about any other course I have found.  While other courses charge an average of $1200 (the same courses that teach you how to plan weddings and parties),

the price for the Event Planner Course is only $297.

** For the cost of an outfit, two pairs of shoes, or a month's worth of fancy coffee, you can gain the knowledge you need to begin a new career that you will love and enjoy for the rest of your life. **

Financial Principles that Work

This 23-page report, written by financial advisor and expert Aaron Aiken, uses an analogy of travel to illustrate the importance of budgeting and saving.  I found this was particularly applicable because:

(a) it talks about a road trip, a journey, and that is what you are about to embark on (literally and figuratively!)  ....and

(b) as you start off on a new career path, it is imperative that you maintain control of and understand your finances.  Especially if you choose to go the path of an independent contractor; learning how to manage your money is going to be of utmost importance!  ....and

(c) As an event planner, you are going to be in charge of other people's money; and lots of it!  It's important to understand how to budget, how to save a little for emergencies, and how to project how much you'll need.  Managing money well is a necessary part of life as a planner!
